Privacy policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
This policy explains how MOT Plus 1 ("the garage", "we") uses personal information in its customer and reminder system. The system is private: only garage staff can sign in.
What we keep
- Customer details: name, mobile number, and optionally email and address.
- Vehicle details: registration, make, model, year, colour, fuel, mileage, MOT and service dates, and notes about work done.
- Whether the customer has agreed to receive reminders, and when.
- A log of reminder texts sent.
Why we keep it
To keep records of customers' vehicles and to send MOT and service reminders. We send reminders only to customers who have agreed to receive them. We do not use the information for marketing, and we never sell or share it for advertising.
Google Calendar
With the garage's permission, the system connects to the garage's own Google Calendar. It only creates, updates and deletes the MOT and service events it adds itself, so the garage can see upcoming work. It does not read, store or share any other calendar data, and it does not access any other part of the Google account.
The use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who else handles the information
- A text message provider delivers the reminder texts.
- A secure hosting provider runs the system and stores the database.
- DVSA (the MOT History service) is asked for vehicle details when a registration is looked up. Only the registration is sent.
How long we keep it
We keep records while someone is a customer of the garage. A record can be deleted at any time on request.
Your choices
You can ask to stop reminders, see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. Just contact the garage.
